This new course enjoys a wonderful unspoilt setting on the edge of the Cesine nature reserve and only 2km from the beach at San Cataldo. The clubhouse is a converted 17 th century farmhouse, and great pains have been taken to integrate the course and its natural surroundings. With much of the rough consisting of protected Mediterranean maquis, a round at Acaya is a treat for the senses, with the possible exception of the golfer’s naturally acute sense of injustice. On a windy day high handicappers may find the course a tough proposition, as its fairways are narrow, the rough is impenetrable and best treated as a lateral hazard, and the greens are small. Bring your most accurate game to Acaya and, when it deserts you, take consolation in the beautiful scenery and wild flowers.
