The Mezzogiorno's original golf course, founded in 1968 near the small beach resort of Castellaneta, is a classically uncomplicated layout set in scented coastal pine forest that offers welcome shade and shelter from the prevailing wind. Although not particularly long by today's standards, Riva's narrow fairways and well defended greens put a premium on accuracy.
